National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage | Registration of the 'Art of Filigree from Póvoa de Lanhoso'

The President of the Municipal Council, Frederico Castro, welcomes this recognition granted to the Art of Filigree from Póvoa de Lanhoso. “Our Filigree is a noble tradition that affirms the memory and identity of the people of Póvoa, and which we want to keep alive and perpetuate for future generations.”

Following the application submitted by the Municipal Council in January 2022, which initiated the process, it has now come to a successful conclusion with the Order from DGPC (Direção Geral do Património Cultural), to be followed shortly by publication in the Diário da República.

“This is a very significant moment, long awaited by all the filigree artisans from Póvoa, which finally comes to recognize and value our filigree.”

The Direção-Geral do Património Cultural (DGPC) has registered the «Art of Filigree from Póvoa de Lanhoso» in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as published today, May 8, 2023, in the Diário da República, by Announcement no. 97/2023.
