The traditional filigree workshop was established in 1970, initially by the hand of António Oliveira Cardoso's father. Since 1990, the company has been managed by António Cardoso and his wife, Rosa Cardoso.

The AC Filigranas brand was created in 2014, at the moment when the work of the filigree craftsmen gained international recognition, after the actress Sharon Stone wore one of the filigree hearts produced in their workshop. After the actress showcased it in Los Angeles, the craftsman from Gondomar received numerous requests, giving new momentum to the Jewellery and Filigree industry in particular.
